Hotel-Dieu advances treatment for heart rhythm disorders

Hotel-Dieu de France Hospital said in a statement that its cardiology department is marking a qualitative advance in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.

This comes with the introduction of the Affera system, a new-generation technology for cardiac mapping and treatment through electrical interventions.

The system is being used for the first time in the Middle East. Dr. Jad Sakaf and his team successfully carried out the first procedures using this system.

He explained that “the Affera system combines, within a single platform, high-density, high-precision cardiac mapping with two techniques for treating heart rhythm disorders: pulsed field ablation (PFA) and radiofrequency ablation (RF).”

He added that this special system also allows mapping and ablation to be carried out during the same procedure, giving medical teams greater flexibility in handling patients, particularly in critical and complex cases.

He noted that “the introduction of this technology reflects Hotel-Dieu de France’s ongoing commitment to advancing its medical practices and giving patients access to the latest innovations and technologies.”
