India and Qatar’s ambitions to host the 2036 Olympic Games have been confirmed.
This comes after the International Olympic Committee included them, on Tuesday, among seven candidates in the race to host the Games.
India and Qatar have long been seen as among the leading contenders in the hosting race.
The International Olympic Committee intends to settle the decision in 2029 through a competitive vote involving more than 100 IOC members.
The International Olympic Committee said that South Africa, South Korea, Germany, Hungary and Turkey are also holding talks regarding options to host one of the upcoming Olympic editions.
With the 2040 and even the 2044 Games among the options under consideration.
The International Olympic Committee has set October 31 as the deadline for other National Olympic Committees to join the race to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
