Public schools in Nabatieh and the surrounding area opened their doors as the new school year began, amid an atmosphere of cautious calm and anxiety due to the ongoing Israeli attacks.
A high attendance rate was recorded among students who opted for in-person learning, while school buses resumed their routes on the streets from the early morning hours.
Damage to most school buildings was limited to broken windows and doors torn off by the force of the airstrikes.
However, schools and universities located in the University District of Nabatieh continue to face security risks due to their proximity to targeted areas, including Ali al-Taher Hill, al-Dabshah Hill, and Doha Kafr Ruman.
This situation has prompted a number of educational institutions to seek alternative buildings.
In this context, the Hassan Kamel al-Sabah Public High School moved to the Nabatieh Vocational School building to ensure the safety of students and teachers and to provide a more stable learning environment.
The school’s principal, Abbas Shamisani, explained that the original plan was to begin classes in the school’s original building.
However, security developments necessitated a shift to the alternative plan.
He confirmed that attendance exceeded expectations, noting that the number of students surpassed 800.
The building was also equipped with high-speed internet to enable displaced students outside the region to continue their classes remotely.
In the hope of returning soon to the main building.
