The Minister of Education, Dr. Rima Karami, held a virtual educational meeting.
Participants discussed the future of Lebanon’s official high school exams.
The meeting followed a recommendation from the parliamentary education committee.
It also followed Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s decision to postpone the first examination round.
Educational officials attended the meeting.
Representatives of public and private schools also took part.
Different Opinions on Official Exams
The meeting lasted more than three hours.
Participants reviewed the challenges that affected the academic year.
However, they expressed different opinions about the best solution.
Some participants called for cancelling the official exams.
Others supported the flexible examination system approved by the ministry.
Several officials suggested postponing the exams.
Meanwhile, others proposed allowing students to choose certain examination subjects.
Minister Karami said she would review all the proposals carefully.
She will then present a complete plan to the Council of Ministers.
The plan will focus on educational fairness.
It will also consider the difficult conditions facing students.
Student Safety Remains a Priority
Minister Karami stressed that student safety remains the main priority.
She said the security situation must guide the final decision.
The government had previously approved an exceptional examination system.
The system included three examination rounds for students.
The ministry also reduced the required curriculum.
The exams would cover lessons completed before March 1.
At the meeting’s conclusion, Karami requested written proposals from all participants.
She also asked them to submit possible alternatives.
The ministry seeks a solution that protects students’ rights.
At the same time, it hopes to hold the official exams in Lebanon.
