The Patriarchs’ Park in Al-Diman honored the Lebanese poet Talal Haydar as part of its 22nd annual activities organized by the Qannoubine Association for Culture and Heritage.
The events were held in conjunction with the third session of the Permanent Conference on the Heritage of the Holy Valley, under the theme “The National Dimensions of the Valley’s Heritage and the Centennial of the Lebanese Constitution.”
The occasion served as a national gathering that brought together President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun, leaders of the Christian and Muslim communities, and their representatives.
It also included researchers and historians who discussed the shared national values of the Holy Valley’s heritage.
Talal Haidar, 92, participated in the Christian-Islamic recital performed by the Al-Fayha National Choir.
Artist George Khabbaz was in attendance. Despite his health condition, Haidar insisted on attending, emphasizing that crowning his career with a Qannoubine celebration alongside Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi was one of his dearest wishes.
For his part, Khabbaz described the poet Haidar as “a Lebanese cedar rooted in the hearts of the Lebanese people.”
After Haidar recited his poem dedicated to Qannoubine and Diman in a deeply moving atmosphere, Patriarch Al-Rahi awarded him the Order of the Angel of Qannoubine.
Haidar said that Patriarch Al-Rahi is “the Patriarch of all Lebanon,” calling on the Lebanese to unite and chant the name of Lebanon with one voice.
Thus, the program reflected a unifying national image of Al-Diman, the cradle of historic meetings that contributed to the declaration of Greater Lebanon.
