The “Theater of Tomorrow” Association, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the Municipality of Jbeil–Byblos, is organizing
the second edition of the “Echoes of the Theater” Festival, from September 24 to 27, at 8:00 p.m.
The festival returns to the historic building overlooking the sea at the Armenian Orphanage—the “Bird’s Nest.”
Built in 1920 as a silk factory, The venue lends the performances a unique character that blends heritage with contemporary theatrical creativity.
This new edition follows the success of the first edition, which attracted more than 1,200 spectators across four performances.
This year’s “Echoes of the Theater” festival presents a diverse program kicking off on Thursday, September 24, with the play “Al-Qurna al-Bayda” by Yahya Jaber and Maria Douaihy, inspired by Zgharta’s heritage and local history.
Friday, September 25, will see the premiere of the new play “Zina Wore Her Anklets.”
The play stars Zina Dakash and Karim Shibli.
On Saturday, September 26, artist Jahida Wahbe will present “Ladies of the Light.”
She will recreate the voices of prominent female stars, from Umm Kulthum to Edith Piaf, with a special tribute to actress Rida Khoury.
The festival concludes on Sunday, September 27, with the play “Wedad the Ant Who Digs Through Rock” by Lina Abiad and Christine Choueri, which sheds light on the issue of missing persons in Lebanon.
