The French government has awarded the President of the Educational Center for Research and Development, Professor Hiam Ishaq, the Order of the Academic Palms. She is received the rank of Knight.
This is in honor of her educational career and achievements in the field of curriculum development and teacher training. In addition, it recognizes her work in strengthening educational and academic relations between Lebanon and France.
The medal was awarded to her by Christophe Mosetelli, Advisor for Cooperation and Cultural Action. He is also President of the French Institute in Beirut.
The ceremony was held in the conference hall of the Educational Center for Research and Development Press building. It took place in Horsh Tabet.
She worked tirelessly to enrich the educational system
Christophe Mosetelli spoke about Professor Isaac and explained her journey.
He stressed that she is a woman who, since 2023, has adopted the reform of the school curriculum. This reform includes all its complexities.
A tribute to the commitment
He continued: “Madam President of the Educational Center for Research and Development in Lebanon, dear Hiam Ishaq, allow me to commend your commitment to education and to your country.
“You have established your career in the public and university education system. Therefore, you are providing Lebanon with a high-level model for curriculum reform,” he said.
“Choosing the courage to do so means accepting the challenge of facing the weight of traditions, rigid structures, and collective fears. This is especially true in a country like Lebanon,” Dr. Katar said.
He concluded: “I am happy to repeat this slogan that was presented at the Educational Center for Research and Development, which I have been reading for more than two years: ‘In education, we build together.’
The celebration concluded with a speech by the honorable Ishaq. In her speech, she said: “At the beginning of my speech, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to you and deep gratitude for your words.”
The association with French goes beyond the boundaries of language
For me, my deep attachment to the French language goes beyond the boundaries of the language itself In addition, it embodies a living culture and carries strong human values. She added
They are an integral part of the multiple Lebanese identity. It is not just an inherited language or an additional skill, but a space for freedom, dialogue and openness
My biggest gratitude goes to my little family, to my husband and to my sons Joey and Maria, she said.
I like to see this medal as a message for the future rather than a tribute to the past.
