The Press Club, headed by Bassam Abu Zeid, accepted an invitation from the chairman of the board of directors of “Château Saint Thomas,” engineer and agricultural expert Joe Asaad Toma, and thus visited the Saint Thomas vineyards.
to spend a day among the vineyards. The visit combined culture and recreation with an introduction to Lebanon’s agricultural and industrial heritage.
The delegation was welcomed by the president of the Lebanese Vine and Wine Federation, Michline Toma, and board members Natalie and Claudine Toma.
Afterward, they accompanied the journalists and artists on a tour of the vineyards.
They also explained the stages of growing grapes, harvesting them, and turning them into wine.
Members of the Press Club learned about both traditional and modern winemaking methods at “Château Saint-Thomas.”
They also visited the château’s cellars, where they learned about fermentation, aging, and storage methods.
Joe Toma emphasized that the château’s philosophy is based on respect for the land, care for the vines, and maintaining production quality.
He explained that Lebanese wine has become a competitor in European markets. It has also become part of Lebanon’s identity and its industrial and agricultural history.
For his part, Bassam Abu Zeid thanked the Toma family for their warm welcome and hospitality.
He noted that the visit has become an annual tradition celebrating a Lebanese success story deeply rooted in the land.
He emphasized the role of the media in sharing people’s stories and successes, as well as in highlighting the creation of hope and the importance of agricultural and rural tourism.
