Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, Minister of Displaced Persons and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, launched the “Professional Diploma in Artificial Intelligence for Auditors.”
The launch took place at the invitation of the Association of Certified Public Accountants of Lebanon, in collaboration with the Union of Arab Accountants and Auditors.
The event was attended by government officials, professionals, and academics.
The diploma aims to develop auditors’ skills and enable them to use artificial intelligence tools to analyze data, assess risks, and detect indicators of fraud.
It also covers the drafting of audit instructions, the analysis of financial statements, “Power BI” applications, cybersecurity, and data governance.
Elie Abboud, President of the Order of Certified Public Accountants, emphasized that technology can collect and analyze data and propose findings.
However, he stressed that professional judgment, responsibility, and signature authority remain with humans.
He explained that the association seeks to keep pace with the digital transformation while maintaining integrity, independence, and the confidentiality of information.
For his part, Minister Shehadeh noted that artificial intelligence enhances auditors’ capabilities rather than eliminating their role.
He pointed out its ability to analyze massive data sets, detect unusual patterns, and review documents quickly.
Conversely, Shehadeh warned against errors and digital hallucinations, stressing the importance of data quality and human oversight.
He expressed his hope that the diploma program would serve as a model for cooperation between the government, professional bodies, and the academic and private sectors.
