Lebanese apples are among the best, and most Lebanese villages are known for their apple orchards. Despite the ongoing crises, Lebanese farmers have begun finding solutions to sell their produce.
The Zahle municipality announced in a statement that it has “launched an initiative to purchase 40 tons of apples from farmers.”
The apples will be distributed to 25 educational institutions under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The initiative was launched in the presence of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Director General, engineer Louis Lahoud.
It began at the center of the “Arcenciel” association.
There, 30 boxes of apples were handed over to the association for people with special needs.
The initiative aims to “help farmers sell their apple harvest, boost the economic cycle, and encourage municipalities to buy national products.”
It is worth noting that Lebanese farmers are increasingly turning to apple cultivation, and while there was previously a crisis in selling the produce, several solutions have since been developed by the state and civil society.
