The mayor of Zgharta-Ehden, Pierre Zakia al-Douaihi, met in his office with four school principals from Zgharta al-Zawiya.
He discussed various educational matters with them.
This is part of the ongoing educational initiative aimed at coordinating between the Municipality of Zgharta-Ehden and educational institutions in the Zgharta al-Zawiya district.
The mayor commended the principals’ willingness to extend the summer break until October.
He also emphasized the importance of staggering the end of the school day by a quarter or half an hour from one school to another to alleviate traffic congestion on Zgharta Street.
On the sidelines of the meeting between Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi and the mayor of Zgharta-Ehden,
the mayor briefed him on the meeting he was holding with school principals in the Zgharta district—including those of Catholic schools—to postpone the start of the school year until early October, thereby extending the summer break.
According to a statement, Patriarch Al-Rahi listened with interest, supporting and encouraging this proposal.
He expressed his cooperation and readiness to ensure the success of this initiative.
