The “National Bridges” project launched under the slogan “From Union Solidarity to National Solidarity” during a meeting at the Padova Hotel in Sin el-Fil.
Teachers from Beirut and Mount Lebanon joined the event.
The initiative aims to strengthen the role of teachers in promoting social cohesion. It also encourages dialogue among the different groups within Lebanese society.
Wasl, headed by Dr. Nisreen Shaheen, partnered with the Nabil Shartouni Foundation for Advancement and Happiness in Lebanon to launch the project.
Dr. Shaheen supervises the project and leads the training sessions. Meanwhile, Dr. Ghassan Al-Salibi contributes to its preparation and development.
The project entered its training phase after five months of research and educational work. This phase includes workshops designed specifically for teachers.
The initiative also creates safe spaces for open dialogue and shared experiences. Through these discussions, participants can explore common human values and needs.
In addition, National Bridges encourages teachers to take a more active role in their communities. The project helps them challenge hate speech, division, and social tensions.
It also promotes solidarity, mutual respect, and stronger relationships between different communities.
In the next phase, the organizers will hold more training workshops. Teachers from different regions and backgrounds will take part.
The initiative builds on the important role of schools in restoring trust and strengthening national bonds across Lebanon.
