An Initiative to Make the Roads Leading to Schools in Al-Minya Safer

The Lebanese Association for Electoral Democracy carried out this initiative in coordination and cooperation with the Union of Municipalities of Al-Minya.

The initiative, aimed at promoting traffic safety in front of public schools, was titled: “From School to Every Road… A Safer Minieh.”

This initiative was the result of the work of the youth group in the Minieh-Danniyeh district.

They prepared, presented, and discussed the initiative with the Union.

The Al-Balat Public Coeducational School and the Nabi Yushua Public School were selected as pilot sites for its implementation.

The initiative included a series of practical measures.

Among the most notable were: installing traffic signs in front of both schools, marking safe pedestrian crossings, constructing speed bumps to reduce vehicle speed, and installing reflective studs that glow at night to alert drivers.

Tawfiq Zarqiya, president of the Union of Municipalities of Minieh, affirmed that “this initiative will be completed and expanded.”

It will include other public schools, in a move aimed at fostering a safer school environment for students.
