The Municipality of Qubayat, in collaboration with the “Insan” Foundation, concluded the Qubayat Sports Festival at the Mar Doumit School playground.
Under the patronage of Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Nora Bayrakdarian, the festival concluded after six days of competitions and activities that brought together participants of various age groups.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Qubayat, the President of the “Insan” Foundation, Michel Abdo, and former Member of Parliament Hadi Habish.
Also in attendance was the Chair of the Qubayat Festivals Committee, Cynthia Qarqafi Habish, along with religious, municipal, security, and sports figures, as well as a large crowd of local residents.
Bayrakdarian emphasized that sports are not merely a competition, but rather a “way of life” that fosters cooperation, respect, and a sense of belonging.
She praised the initiative of the municipality and the “Insan” Foundation.
She also emphasized that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to strengthen its partnership with municipalities and support sports development.
For his part, Abdo announced that the Qubayat Sports Club had obtained official authorization to play basketball and mini-soccer.
He considered this step an achievement for the town’s youth. He noted that the Qubayat Sports Academy includes more than 360 male and female players.
Abdo also paid tribute to the Lebanese Army on its anniversary on August 1.
The festival concluded with the presentation of trophies, prizes, and commemorative plaques to the winners amid a festive atmosphere, with a promise that the next edition will be even bigger and more diverse.
