The head of the Lebanese delegation and member of the Olympic Committee, Treasurer Khader Maklad, arrived in Nagoya, Japan, in preparation for participating in the 20th Asian Games.
Aichi Prefecture will host the competitions from September 19 through October 4, 2026.
Mukallad has begun logistical preparations to welcome members of the Lebanese delegation and secure their accommodations.
The Games do not include a dedicated athletes’ village; instead, delegations will be distributed across several locations, most notably the cruise ship “Costa Serena,” anchored in the Port of Nagoya.
The ship can accommodate between 4,000 and 5,000 male and female athletes.
Temporary wooden housing units accommodating about 1,000 athletes have also been allocated, in addition to a number of local hotels.
Mukallad met with the Tikball national team delegation, which includes manager Ramzi Al-Ashqar and coach Omar Yassin.
He also met with players Mohammad Hafez, Ahmad Orabi, Maria Shadid, and Qamar Dandall.
He also visited the modern pentathlon team, consisting of Lebanese Federation Secretary General Nadia Nehme and athlete Michel Yard.
Yard will begin his competition on Wednesday, September 16, by competing in the classification round of the fencing event.
He will then compete on Friday in the direct elimination round, followed by swimming, the obstacle course, and Laser Run—a combination of running and laser shooting.
Nehme had previously participated in the competition’s technical meeting, attended by international, Asian, and Japanese officials, to discuss organizational and technical details.
