Shooter Samer Sarkis achieved a remarkable feat for Lebanon, as Samer Sarkis won the gold medal in skeet shooting.
He won the gold medal in the men’s skeet competition at the “Taranto 2026” Mediterranean Games.
Sarkis delivered an outstanding performance over two days, amid fierce competition from an elite group of Olympic and international shooters.
He successfully hit 32 out of 36 targets in the final round,
This secured him first place by a margin of one target over his Turkish rival, Mohamed Sehoun.
Sehoun took second place after scoring 31 out of 36 targets.
Cypriot Nikolaos Vassiliou placed third with 28 out of 32 targets.
Samer Sarkis had secured his spot in the final after a strong qualifying round,
He scored 117 out of 125 targets.
He also led the competition on the first day, hitting 72 out of 75 targets.
Dr. Boutros Jalakh, President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, followed the competition.
He was accompanied by Head of Mission Jack Tamer and several members of the delegation.
After the medal ceremony, joy filled the Lebanese delegation’s headquarters, and congratulations poured in from Taranto to Beirut in celebration of this new golden achievement for Lebanese sports.
