Wall Street traded quietly after ending two consecutive sessions of decline.
Waiting for Micron Results
The start of trading on Wall Street was cautious, as investors awaited the announcement of results from Micron, one of the most influential companies in the technology sector.
Tech stocks were relatively stable after a strong sell-off in the market over the past few days.
Investors hoped that Micron’s results would give new clues about the future of demand for microchips and artificial intelligence technologies.
Dow Jones declines
At the opening of the session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 6.1 points to settle at 51,660.75 points.
On the other hand, the S 500 index rose by 5.4 points to 7,370.88 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index fell by 8.4 points to 2,5578.624 points.
Sharp losses in oil prices
In the energy market, oil prices continued their sharp losses.
It fell by more than 3%, hitting its lowest level in nearly four months.
The decline came as more oil tankers emerged to leave the Strait of Hormuz, helping to calm concerns about global supplies.
Brent crude fell $2.4, or 3%, to $74.69 a barrel, just as it did on Wall Street.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $2.15, or 2.9%, to $71.02 a barrel.
This is the lowest level for Brent crude since February 27, while US crude recorded its weakest level since March 3.
Analysts said improved shipping and easing geopolitical concerns contributed to pressure on prices.
At a time when investors continued to monitor the global economic data and the results of major companies to determine the direction of the markets during the coming period.
