Abu Dhabi has taken a new strategic step in the energy sector. This came after the Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs awarded the concession agreement for the Bab gas cover project to ADNOC and its international partners.
The project underscored the UAE’s commitment to enhancing energy security. It also positions the UAE as a global hub for long-term investments in the oil and gas sector.
ADNOC’s stake in the project was 60%, with the remaining shares split between TotalEnergies (10%) and BP Abu Dhabi (10%).
In addition, CNBC International gained 8 percent. Meanwhile, Judco Onshore fell 5 percent, China Xinhua Oil gained 4 percent, and Korea’s GSE P gained 3 percent.
Huge production capacity
The Bab gas cover project is the largest of its kind in the world.
This underscored its importance in supporting the UAE’s strategy to develop natural gas resources.
Production capacity is expected to reach about 1.5 billion standard cubic feet of natural gas per day.
This represents about fifteen percent of ADNOC Gas’ total gas processing capacity.
