The Lebanese delegation continued its participation in the Mediterranean Games being held in the Italian city of Taranto.
Amid fierce competition in fencing, swimming, and taekwondo.
In the épée category, Ghadi al-Shamali secured three victories.
Most notably, he defeated Greece’s Artemios Tzofanis 5–1 and France’s Nolan Wingert 13–12.
Antoine Al-Shuwayri also recorded three victories over Algeria’s Ibrahim Karraria, Italy’s Filippo Armalio, and Turkey’s Halis Elipol.
He then lost to Greece’s Theodoropoulos with a score of 10–15.
For his part, Anthony Basil defeated Algeria’s Tamer Hossam El-Din 5–2.
However, he lost his two matches against Spain’s Eugeni Gavaldà and France’s Clément Boullier.
In the foil competition, Philip Wakim competed in four tough matches against fencers from France, Egypt, Spain, and Italy, without securing a victory.
Head of Delegation Jacques Tamer and administrator Philippe Tamer attended the fencing competitions.
In swimming, the Lebanese team continued to compete in the breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle events.
The competitors were Lynn Al-Hajj, Youssef Abboud, Munther Kabara, Rayan Arkdan, Lorisia Awad, Ahmad Safiya, Taline Murad, Angela Domanyan, Farid Zidan, and Tia Obeid.
In taekwondo, Lebanon concluded its participation with losses by Youssef Faraj, Carla Al-Bustani, and Yamen Faraj to competitors from Tunisia and Serbia.
These were matches characterized by intensity and competitiveness.
