The Al-Nour Orthodox Cooperative for Publishing and Distribution has recently published the book *Canada on the Blue Wall* by Father Eliya Mitri.
It is a collection of texts and diary entries written by the author during his trip to Canada in the year 2023.
In it, he compiles his observations, reflections, and impressions on exile, immigration, homeland, humanity, and the Church.
The book does not present Canada merely as a travel destination; rather, it uses the journey as an opportunity to reflect on humanity and its relationship with place.
In his writings, Metri moves between different Canadian cities, chronicling his encounters with members of the Lebanese and Antiochian communities.
He records his observations of daily life, pausing to reflect on nature, humanity, poverty, and cultural diversity.
From fleeting details, he draws out deeper questions about life, values, and belonging.
The ecclesiastical dimension is also strongly present in the book, through the author’s encounters, his prayers, and his visits to churches and parishes.
He reflects on the Church’s role in preserving people’s identities and heritage.
He also reflects on its ability to transcend geographical boundaries and make its members—wherever they may be—part of one family.
The book does not merely describe the experience of exile; it also poses critical questions about the homelands that displace their own people.
He emphasized that a homeland is not merely a ready-made place, but a project in which its people participate in its construction.
It should be noted that this publication is part of the mission of the Al-Nour Orthodox Cooperative for Publishing and Distribution.
to publish books that combine intellectual, spiritual, and human dimensions.
