The Lebanese delegation continues to arrive at the Mediterranean Games in the Italian city of Taranto.
They are preparing to compete in the 20th edition of the Games, which will take place from August 21 to September 3.
With broad participation from countries in the region.
The swimming, taekwondo, and wrestling delegations were among the first to arrive.
They were welcomed by the head of the delegation and vice president of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Jack Tamer, who oversaw the logistical arrangements and accommodations at the aquatic athletes’ village.
Dr. Boutros Jalkh, President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, also arrived in Taranto on Wednesday, August 9.
He was there at the official invitation to attend the opening ceremony and accompany the athletes.
Major General Suhail Khoury also arrived in his capacity as a member of the Executive Bureau of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games.
For his part, Jacques Tamer participated in the technical meeting of the heads of delegations.
There, they discussed accommodations, transportation, and meals, as well as training venues and the competition schedule.
Lebanon will begin its participation in the competitions on Saturday, August 22, with swimming and taekwondo.
The Lebanese delegation will compete in 12 of the 33 sports.
The Games will feature 26 participating countries and approximately 4,000 male and female athletes.
They are staying aboard two ships designated as a floating village for the athletes, in an experience that marks a first in the history of the Games.
