Social Security Pays 14 Billion Lira to Two Hospitals

The National Social Security Fund announced the settlement of outstanding medical claims for Al-Ra’i Hospital and the Belvo Medical Center.

It will pay approximately 14 billion Lebanese pounds to these two institutions, covering doctors’ fees for treating insured patients.

In a statement, the Fund explained that this step is part of a process it began about eight months ago to address the outstanding financial claims of healthcare institutions for the period prior to 2024.

The Fund’s Director General, Dr. Mohammad Karaki, had called on hospitals wishing to collect their dues to complete the required procedures and documentation in accordance with established procedures.

The settlement was based on Fund Board of Directors Resolution No. 11, issued on September 3, 2026, and approved by the supervisory authority on September 10, 2026.

On this basis, Karaki signed settlement and release agreements with the two hospitals.

This will definitively close their outstanding financial files for the aforementioned period.

Karki affirmed the Fund’s continued commitment to cooperating with the hospital sector and settling accumulated transactions, calling on the hospitals concerned to expedite the submission of their documents.

In return, he stressed the need for healthcare sector employees to adhere to the rates approved by the Fund.

He also emphasized that insured patients should not be burdened with unjustified financial costs, in order to preserve their right to healthcare.
