Jounieh Port witnessed a prominent event with the launch of the tourist ship Cedar Waves. This important step strengthens Lebanon’s position on the maritime transport and tourism map.
The project was launched under the slogan “Lebanon Is the Sea with Your Love.” Moreover, it came at the initiative of MP Nehme Avram, who led efforts to rehabilitate and reactivate Jounieh Port.
Ministerial Attendance at the Ceremony
The launch ceremony was attended by Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasmani, alongside several official and economic figures.
The ship has a capacity of approximately 350 passengers. In addition, it offers an integrated travel experience featuring modern facilities and state-of-the-art services.
Weekly Tourist Trips
Cedar Waves is expected to operate weekly trips, therefore providing passengers with a new way to explore maritime destinations and enjoy the Mediterranean Sea.
MP Nehme Avram stressed that the project goes beyond its economic dimension. Instead, he described it as a symbol of the Lebanese people’s determination and ability to rise despite challenges.
The Importance of Public-Private Partnership
Furthermore, Avram emphasized the importance of partnerships between the public and private sectors in reconnecting Lebanon with the world.
For her part, Minister Laura Al-Khazen Lahoud said that the project aligns with the national vision for developing Lebanon’s tourism and transport infrastructure.
Additionally, she explained that the initiative will strengthen Jounieh’s position as a vital maritime gateway that attracts visitors from Lebanon and abroad.
The project will also contribute to revitalizing marine tourism, supporting the local economy, and creating new job opportunities.
Ultimately, Cedar Waves will strengthen maritime connections between Lebanon and Mediterranean countries. At the same time, it will reflect a positive image of Lebanon as a destination for tourism, investment, and maritime travel.
