LAU Celebrates the Graduation of Future Physicians
The Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine at the Lebanese American University celebrated the graduation of its future physicians.
Doctors, students, university officials, and graduates’ families attended the ceremony at the Byblos campus.
The event highlighted LAU’s leading role in preparing qualified medical professionals. These graduates will support both the community and the healthcare sector.
LAU President Dr. Chaouki Abdallah attended the ceremony alongside members of the Board of Trustees. Academic and medical officials also joined the graduates and their families.
LAU Honors New Doctors and Residents
During the ceremony, 65 doctors received their medical stoles after successfully completing their studies.
The university also presented certificates to 48 resident doctors from various medical specialties.
Dr. Abdallah said LAU prepares doctors who can build successful careers anywhere in the world.
He also encouraged graduates to combine scientific excellence with strong human values throughout their careers.
Technology Cannot Replace Human Connection
Dr. Abdallah explained that technology and artificial intelligence will transform medical practices.
However, he stressed that these tools cannot replace the human relationship between doctors and patients.
Medicine requires empathy, trust, communication, and compassion alongside scientific knowledge.
A Profession Built on Ethics and Empathy
Dean of the School of Medicine Dr. Sola Aoun Bahous described graduation as the result of years of effort and perseverance.
She explained that a doctor’s mission goes beyond diagnosing illnesses and providing treatment.
Doctors must also show empathy and maintain a strong ethical commitment toward every patient.
In addition, the university presented excellence awards to several outstanding graduates.
White Coat Ceremony Marks a New Stage
The school also presented white coats to 68 students entering the clinical stage of their education.
These students will begin practical training at the LAU Medical Center–Rizk Hospital.
The white coat ceremony marks an important milestone in their medical journey. Students will now interact directly with patients and gain valuable clinical experience.
Speakers explained that the white coat represents trust, responsibility, and commitment to human dignity.
Finally, the university encouraged students to remain humble and continue learning. It also urged them to serve patients with dedication, compassion, and professionalism.
