Al-Maqasid and the Beirut Marathon: Is a New Partnership in the Works?

Diana Tabbarah, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Maqasid Islamic Charitable Society in Beirut, welcomed May Al-Khalil, President of the Beirut Marathon Association.

Al-Khalil visited Al-Maqasid to congratulate Tabbarah on assuming her new leadership role.

Several members of the Al-Maqasid Board of Trustees attended the meeting. In addition, a delegation from the Beirut Marathon Association joined the visit.

During the meeting, Al-Khalil congratulated Tabbarah on her election. She also highlighted the importance of choosing a woman for this leadership position for the first time.

According to Al-Khalil, this choice reflects competence and strong qualifications.

Moreover, she reviewed the long-standing cooperation between Al-Maqasid and the Beirut Marathon Association. The partnership dates back to 2003, particularly in volunteer and scouting activities.

She also expressed hope that both organizations would strengthen this relationship in the coming period.

For her part, Tabbarah reaffirmed Al-Maqasid’s openness to cooperation with associations and federations. She stressed that such partnerships can serve both the community and the country.

Furthermore, Tabbarah expressed interest in benefiting from the Beirut Marathon Association’s experience and achievements.

She also revealed Al-Maqasid’s intention to participate in upcoming races. According to Tabbarah, this participation reflects the shared values and goals of both organizations.

As a result, both sides agreed to form a joint committee. The committee will prepare a framework for a cooperation agreement in the sports sector.

In addition, the planned cooperation will include social, humanitarian, and charitable initiatives.

At the end of the meeting, May Al-Khalil presented Diana Tabbarah with the Beirut Marathon Association’s plaque of appreciation.
