The Lebanese delegation at the 2026 Mediterranean Games is nearing the end of its participation in the event being held in Taranto, Italy.
The Games, which run through September 3, have seen the team achieve new results in track and field, table tennis, and artistic gymnastics.
In track and field, Nour Hadid and Aziza Spiti competed in the 100-meter dash but did not qualify for the final.
Sbiti finished ninth with a time of 11.90 seconds, just 0.06 seconds short of qualifying.
This was despite strong winds. French coach Wilfried Krantz praised her performance and her ability to cope with the difficult conditions.
For his part, Hadid finished in 13th place, clocking 10.83 seconds—35 hundredths of a second short of qualifying.
The two runners are preparing for the 200-meter race on September 1.
In table tennis, Bisan Shiri lost to Turkey’s Ece Hrak by a score of 0–4, ending the Lebanese team’s participation in the competition.
Coach Ahmad Harb emphasized that the tournament provided the players with an important opportunity to compete and gain experience.
In artistic gymnastics, Sara Marwa qualified for the second waiting list for the all-around final, while Mar Al-Shami was unable to complete her competition due to illness.
