White coats adorn the doctors of the future; the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the Lebanese University organized a white coat ceremony for fifth-year students of the Class of 2028.
This marks their transition from academic study to clinical practice in hospitals.
The White Coat Ceremony was attended by Lebanese University President Dr. Bassam Badran, Faculty Dean Dr. Saada Allamah, Dr. Pierre Yared, President of the Private Hospitals Association and former Dean of the Faculty, along with professors, academic and medical figures, and the students’ families.
During the event, Ali Saloum, president of the “Heart Beet” student club, and student Hadi Saloum spoke on behalf of the graduating class.
Alama noted that the ceremony is being held for the third consecutive year, despite the difficult circumstances Lebanon is currently facing. She emphasized that the path to becoming a doctor is fraught with challenges and sacrifices, but it offers students a genuine opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. She also praised the role of parents and faculty in supporting and encouraging the students.
For his part, Badran noted that the white coat is not merely an outfit, but a covenant of responsibility and a mission to be carried out with conscience and dedication. He called on future doctors to treat every medical decision as an ethical stance and every practical step as a renewed commitment to serving humanity.
The ceremony concluded with the white coat presentation and the recitation of the medical oath, amid an atmosphere of pride and hope for the students’ future.
