The U.S. Treasury Department concluded a series of auctions to sell long-term bonds.
It sold $25 billion in 30-year bonds.
Demand for the bonds was in line with the average.
The yield on the 30-year U.S. bonds was 5% of their face value,
The offering was oversubscribed three times.
Last month, the U.S. Treasury sold $22 billion worth of 30-year bonds.
The yield on those bonds was 5.5%, and the bid-to-cover ratio was 2.5 times the offering amount, according to the German news agency DPA.
It should be noted that the bid-to-cover ratio is a measure of demand for bonds.
It indicates the size of the subscription relative to the size of the offering.
The average bid-to-cover ratio for the last ten offerings of 30-year bonds was 2.5 times.
Earlier this week, the Treasury sold $58 billion in three-year bonds.
It also sold $42 billion in 10-year bonds, with demand for both offerings exceeding the average.
