The waterfront of the city of Sidon witnessed the launch of the largest gathering of the sport of “sea kayaking” in Lebanon.
The event was organized by the “Friends of Zira and Saida Beach” and “Saida Kayak”, under the auspices of the Saida Municipality, and in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Saida, Dr. Ahmed Akra.
Members of the municipal council, Youssef Tohme and Wael Kasab, the president of the Friends of Zira Saida Mustafa Habli, and members of the association also attended.
In addition to dozens of amateurs and professionals of different ages, amid integrated organizational and security support to ensure the highest levels of safety from units of the Lebanese Army’s naval forces.
The participants set off on a sea route from in front of the historic Saida Naval Fortress towards the island of Sidon “Al-Zira”.
Through this initiative, Sidon will announce the opening of its summer season.
With its unique water park, Ziera Saida is an ideal destination for swimming, diving, kayaking, and marine life exploration.
This makes it a natural heritage and a major tourist destination on the Lebanese map.
On this occasion, the Mayor and members thanked the organizers, volunteers, supporters, and kayak champions.
“Sidon will remain a city of life, sports and tourism, and a destination that combines history, beauty and the spirit of entrepreneurship,” they stressed.
The Municipality of Saida also called on all citizens, expatriates and visitors from various Lebanese regions to “visit the city and get to know its landmarks, enjoy the unique beauty of Zira and practice various water activities in a safe and incubating environment”.
