The Saint Joseph University (USJ) women’s team has been crowned champion of the Lebanese Futsal League.
The team achieved an exceptional feat, finishing the season with a perfect record of 11 wins in 11 matches.
This achievement reflects the high level of competitive consistency enjoyed by sports at Saint Joseph University in general, which continues to strengthen its presence at the university and sporting levels.
The women’s futsal team has not tasted defeat in three years, winning every local university title, including the championships and cup of the Lebanese University Sports Federation.
USJ competes in a number of national club championships under the name “Club 1875,” affiliated with the university.
The club was founded in 2015 and named after the year the venerable university itself was established, with the aim of embodying the close relationship between the academic institution and its sporting activity.
This reflects the university’s vision of supporting and developing sports, as it constantly seeks to provide a comprehensive environment for its students that combines academic excellence with sporting distinction, giving athletes the opportunity to develop and compete locally and internationally.
The Saint Joseph University team in the Lebanese league was overseen by Lebanon national team coach Maroun Khoury, who also leads the university team in this sport, meaning USJ brings together two tracks of competition at the highest level in futsal.
The ambitions of Saint Joseph University’s women do not stop at local competition. The team is preparing to take part in the World University Championship, hosted by the Slovakian capital Bratislava from November 4 to 9.

Amid high hopes of achieving positive results, Saint Joseph University’s women enter the upcoming world championship after successfully winning the bronze medal in the previous two editions, in Rome, Italy in 2024, and in Barcelona, Spain in 2025.
This makes the upcoming participation a new milestone to prove the ability of Lebanese university sports to compete and achieve outstanding results on the international stage.
