The Minister of Agriculture inaugurates an agricultural center in Al-Aqoura

Opening of the Agricultural Center in Akura: A New Step to Promote Agricultural Extension

The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, sponsored the opening of the new agricultural center in the town of Al-Akura. A large crowd of people from the area attended the event, along with personalities and events.

The aim of the opening of the center is to implement administrative decentralization. In addition, it aims for the distribution of the network of agricultural centers in the regions.

The Mayor of Al-Aqoura Municipality welcomed the attendees and expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture. He thanked the Minister for fulfilling the promise he made during his previous visit to the town.

Capital Investment

The Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Louis Lahoud, confirmed that the new center represents an institutional investment in agricultural human capital.

He added that it will be a specialized platform to provide agricultural extension services.

The newly appointed head of the Agricultural Center, Mr. Boutros Younis, stressed his commitment to work in accordance with the ministry’s vision. This vision involves partnering with farmers.

The Ministry’s Vision in the Transfer of Services

The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, said that the opening of the agricultural center in Aqoura embodies the ministry’s vision. The vision is to transfer services from the central administration to the field.

He explained that agricultural centers are no longer limited to providing administrative services, but have become specialized development institutions.

Sterility and natural ingredients

The minister pointed out that the Aqoura region is one of the most important agricultural and mountainous areas in Lebanon. Additionally, it has distinctive natural and productive elements in the cultivation of trees.

The Minister reviewed the historical role played by the Green Project in the region. He emphasized its importance especially in the reclamation of agricultural lands.

The Minister pointed out that the opening of the center comes in fulfillment of the commitment made by the Ministry. This commitment was made during a previous field visit to Al-Aqoura.

Hani stressed that achieving agricultural development requires integration between the sectors of agriculture, industry, economy and trade.

At the end of the ceremony, the Mayor of Al-Aqoura presented an honorary shield to the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Nizar Hani, in appreciation of his efforts.

Pruning shears and battery-powered saws, provided by the SEAL, were distributed to a number of farmers.

The Agricultural Center in Al-Aqoura has been an advanced platform to serve farmers in the region. In addition, it strengthens the agricultural extension system.
