The Energy Minister of Lebanon, Joe Al-Saddi, began his tour in the district of Jezzine at the Boulos Arqash hydropower plant in Qatala. This plant is affiliated with the National Authority for the Litani River.
He was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director General of the National Authority of the Litani River, Sami Alawieh. Also present was the Director of Hydroelectric Investment, Ghassan Gibran.
Technical Presentation of the Renewable Energy Project
During the visit, a technical presentation was made on the renewable energy project funded by the World Bank. The importance of its components in modernizing and rehabilitating the hydropower plants of the Authority was also discussed.
The planned work within the project and the expected results in terms of increasing production efficiency were also reviewed. Furthermore, the presentation included information about improving operational reliability.
Irrigation Project Development Plans
Al-Sada was briefed on the plans set for the development of the Jezzine Irrigation Project. In addition, he learned about its role in enhancing water security and supporting the agricultural sector in the region.
Alawiya welcomed the echo, stressing that “this visit reflects the official interest in the renewable energy sector and the hydroelectric plants of the National Authority of the Litani River.”
An important station to support the vital facility
He also considered that it “constitutes an important milestone in supporting this vital facility,” noting “the efforts made by the minister in activating the implementation of the World Bank’s renewable energy loan.”
The Echo and the delegation then moved to Karkha where they visited the shrine of St. John the Baptist.
He was received by the Metropolitan of Sidon and Deir el-Qamar of the Melkite Roman Catholics, Elie Haddad. Additionally, there was a crowd of people present.
Finally, after a tour of the place, there was a meeting with a number of mayors and mukhtars of nearby villages. At the end, a souvenir was presented to Sadie.
