IDAL President Dr. Majed Mneimneh told Follow Lebanon that Lebanon’s economic and geographic location is a major driver and support for the economy of the Middle East region.
He also noted that the Lebanese individual is capable of succeeding anywhere, and is a pioneer in trade, industry and administrative work.
He stressed that Lebanon has communities spread across the entire world.
The Lebanese stand out
Dr. Mneimneh said: the Lebanese individual stands out and possesses strong competence, and the reason is the existence of a state that looks after their interests.
He continued: the dream of investment that we want to turn into reality stems from the fact that we are moving toward building a state.
The three presidents are working to build a state
In this context, Dr. Mneimneh affirmed that the three presidents are working to build a state, and when there is a state, the dream becomes reality, and then the Lebanese will return to their country.
Everyone is looking to contribute to the rebuilding
Dr. Mneimneh pointed to meetings held in Gulf, Arab and international countries, noting that everyone is looking to contribute to economic rebuilding.
He stressed that the situation today is tense across the entire world, and there is no surplus of funds being transferred to Lebanon, because even sovereign funds in the Gulf are struggling, and “there’s no free money.”
He emphasized that during a visit to the UAE, he sensed that there is readiness to enter into projects.
Projects from state to state
Dr. Mneimneh continued: but they want projects on a “state-to-state” basis, and want them not to go through channels that would inconvenience the investor or cause delays in completion.
He noted that this came through the Syrian Businessmen’s Forum, or the Emirati-Lebanese Businessmen’s forum.
Countries waiting and watching
Dr. Mneimneh revealed that there are many countries besides the UAE that are waiting and watching, but the security situation is not encouraging for investors, affirming that there is readiness to welcome investors from the UAE and other nationalities.
Readiness and human capacity in Lebanon
He affirmed that Lebanon has readiness as well as human and scientific capacity, and that there is expertise present among the communities spread across the entire world.
In conclusion, he revealed that Lebanon is ready to be the main hub for launching projects, whether in Syria, Jordan or occupied Palestine, and to be the headquarters for key companies to launch the reconstruction of the Middle East.
