Global stocks rose at the close on Friday, supported by gains in technology and artificial intelligence stocks in European and Asian markets.
Meanwhile, US markets closed their doors on the occasion of the Independence Day holiday.
S 500 futures rose 0.4%, while Dow Jones futures rose 0.2%, signaling continued optimism in global markets.
In Europe, Germany’s DAX rose 0.7%, and France’s CAC Arbain climbed 0.3%.
Britain’s FTSE 100 index posted gains of 0.4%, supported by improved performance in technology and industrials stocks.
In Asia, South Korea’s Kospi jumped 5.8% after the previous session’s losses.
Samsung Electronics shares rose 8.2%, and SK Hynix jumped 10.9%, as demand for chipmakers continued.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 climbed 1.5%.
Tokyo Electron shares rose, and Kioxia posted strong gains of more than 9%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 1.3%, while the Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.4%.
The Australian market also performed positively, with the S/ASX 200 index up 1.4%.
Despite the positive performance, the disparity among technology companies persisted.
Some chip stocks came under pressure after a strong rally, while others continued to benefit from the AI-related momentum.
In the currency market, the US dollar fell against the Japanese yen, while the euro recorded a slight rise against the dollar, as investors followed global economic developments and monetary policy trends in the coming period.
