The Professional Footballers’ Association in England named Portuguese player Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, as the best player of last season.
This came after he led the “Red Devils” to third place in the Premier League.
The Portuguese international had an exceptional season.
He broke the Premier League record for the most assists by setting up 21 goals,
surpassing the previous record held by Frenchman Thierry Henry and Belgian Kevin De Bruyne.
The 31-year-old also scored nine goals.
He helped Manchester United recover from a modest start to the season and finish third in the league under the leadership of Michael Carrick.
This secured the team’s return to the Champions League.
Manchester City star Nico O’Reilly won the Young Player of the Year award.
The 21-year-old scored two goals in the League Cup final, which his team won against Arsenal.
He was also part of the team that won the FA Cup last season.
