During a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Lebanese Army, stating that Lebanon is more determined than ever to restore its sovereignty and strengthen its stability.
He stressed that the Lebanese-Turkish partnership must contribute to shaping the future and supporting the Lebanese Army.
Aoun’s remarks came during his first official visit to Turkey since assuming the presidency in 2025.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Erdogan announced Turkey’s continued, uninterrupted support for the Lebanese Army.
He reaffirmed his country’s readiness to contribute to the reconstruction of southern Lebanon, as well as to continue supporting stability in the region.
He also noted Ankara’s willingness to assist in developing relations between Lebanon and Syria, considering that dialogue between the two countries serves their mutual interests.
The two presidents emphasized the importance of respecting national sovereignty.
Aoun stressed that Lebanon’s stability is a fundamental pillar of stability for the entire region.
He expressed his appreciation for Turkey’s support and Ankara’s participation in UNIFIL.
