The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik has launched the 100-Hour Community Service Program,
in a move that links university education to social responsibility and promotes the concept of active citizenship among students.
The program is an integral part of the general education curriculum and a graduation requirement for the relevant student cohort.
The university is the first to directly integrate a 100-hour program into the academic curriculum.
This stems from its vision of preparing active citizens who are able to apply their knowledge to serve Lebanon and contribute to the development of their communities.
The program is based on four main pillars: People, Planet, Prosperity, and Peace and Partnership.
It also allows students to learn through direct engagement with local communities, municipalities, institutions, and the private sector.
This helps them develop their skills and build professional and community networks.
Through a forum titled “Citizenship: Rights and Responsibilities,” students will discuss the concept of citizenship and current civic issues during the fall of 2026.
The “In-Situ” initiative, meanwhile, takes them from the classroom to the field to transform academic ideas into concrete initiatives.
The university implements the program in collaboration with the School of Citizenship and Rotary, as well as municipalities and nongovernmental organizations.
In this way, the 100 hours of university coursework are transformed into an experience that fosters more aware and responsible students.
