Jesus Joins Barcelona

Gabriel Jesus, Barcelona’s New Forward

Spanish club Barcelona announced the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from English club Arsenal.

The contract runs through 2029, after the club failed to sign Argentine forward Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid.

The Catalan club said in a statement: “Barcelona and Arsenal have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus.”

Spanish media reported that the deal was worth approximately 10 million euros.

Jesus (29) arrives to bolster Barcelona’s attack,

which had been weakened by the departures of Poland’s Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres earlier this summer.
The La Liga champions had been trying to sign Alvarez all summer.

However, Atlético Madrid refused to enter into negotiations with the Catalan giants.

Jesus was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and came up through the ranks at Palmeiras, with whom he won league and cup titles.

He was named the league’s best player in 2016.

His impressive performances in Brazil paved the way for a move to Europe, and in the summer of 2016, he signed with Manchester City, then led by Spanish coach Pep Guardiola.
He played 236 matches for the “Citizens” across various competitions.

During that time, he scored 95 goals, provided 45 assists, and won the English Premier League title four times.
In July 2022, he joined Arsenal, where he played 123 matches, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists.
