Bayern Munich kicked off its Bundesliga title defense with a resounding 5-1 victory over visiting Stuttgart, as Bayern routed Stuttgart.
At the Allianz Arena, in the first round of the Bundesliga.
Frenchman Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring in the 21st minute.
He converted a cross from Joshua Kimmich with a precise header into the net.
Despite the home team’s dominance, the first half ended with Bayern leading by a single goal.
Early in the second half, Josha Wagnemann equalized for Stuttgart in the 52nd minute with a powerful shot.
But Bayern’s response was swift, as Frenchman Mickaël Olise scored the second goal in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Kimmich.
Two minutes later, Vagnoman misjudged a clearance, putting the ball into his own net and giving Bayern their third goal.
In the final minutes, the Bavarian side exploited the gaps in Stuttgart’s defense.
Alexander Pavlovic scored the fourth goal in the 82nd minute following a counterattack led by Moroccan Ismail Saibari, and thus Bayern crushed Stuttgart
Colombian Luis Díaz then capped off the five-goal rout in the second minute of stoppage time.
With this victory, coach Vincent Kompany’s team earned its first three points, despite Harry Kane failing to score. Bayern will face Schalke in the second round, while Stuttgart will take on Cologne.
