English striker Harry Kane of Bayern Munich has been crowned winner of the Ballon d’Or, awarded by France Football magazine to the best player in the world.
The award was presented during a ceremony held in the British capital, London.
Kane beat out Real Madrid’s French forward Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to win the honor.
He becomes the first English player to win the prestigious award since Michael Owen did so in 2001.
Kane delivered an exceptional season with his club, German side Bayern Munich.
He scored 73 goals across all competitions for the Bavarian club and the English national team during the 2025-2026 season.
Kane was also crowned top scorer of the German Bundesliga and won the domestic double — the Bundesliga and the German Cup — with Bayern.
He topped the scoring charts in both competitions during the 2025-2026 season.
Meanwhile, the German football giant reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
