Lebanon: Toward a Republic Based on Artificial Intelligence

The Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence held a consultative ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail to advance the vision of an AI-driven republic

to discuss the AI-Based Republic initiative and Lebanon’s National Digital Strategy.

Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri participated in the meeting, along with the ministers of Culture, Energy and Water, Industry, Tourism, and Justice.

During the meeting, the ministry presented a national agenda aimed at establishing an “AI-first” approach within state institutions.

The strategy is also based on four key pillars: legislation, digital infrastructure, talent development, and support for the innovation and investment ecosystem.

The plan also seeks to develop a qualified workforce in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence.

At the same time, it aims to attract investment and strengthen public-private partnerships.

On the other hand, the Ministry called on ministers to assess their sectors’ capacity to contribute to the strategy’s implementation and to provide their feedback on it.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to circulate the strategy to the various ministries

This paves the way for a new round of consultations before moving on to the implementation phases.
