The Beirut Marathon Association and the Municipality of Barmana have launched the “Barmana Running Festival.”
The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in partnership between the two parties.
The announcement was made during a press conference in Bramana.
In attendance were Mayor Pierre Al-Ashkar and Beirut Marathon Association President May Al-Khalil,
along with figures from the sports, municipal, social, and media sectors.
During the conference, Maya Nassar emphasized the importance of choosing Barmana to host the event.
She also noted that the race presents an opportunity to combine sports and tourism, as well as to explore the town’s natural beauty and landmarks.
For his part, Al-Ashkar explained that the municipality wanted to organize a prominent sporting event that would boost Barmana’s presence on the tourism map.
He also called on the Lebanese people to participate widely in the race and to run for Lebanon, peace, and stability.
For her part, May Al-Khalil emphasized that the Barmana Running Festival goes beyond the concept of a mere athletic race.
It serves as a gathering space for Lebanese people and a celebration of life.
She added that organizing races in various regions helps support domestic tourism and stimulate economic activity.
The press conference was preceded by the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a promotional model of the race in Barmana Square.
