Rachaya celebrates the Grape Molasses Days Festival

The Municipality of Rachaya al-Wadi and the “Rachaya and Beyond” association have announced the organization of the 8th edition of the Grape Molasses Days Festival, to be held on October 3 and 4.

The announcement was made during a press conference attended by local officials and representatives of municipal and civil bodies.

Municipality head Rachrach Naji affirmed that the festival introduces visitors to the town’s cultural, natural and heritage assets.

It also strengthens Rachaya’s presence on the tourism map, in cooperation with the association, partners and supporters.

The heritage market as a space for gathering
Tourism committee head Ferial Saab explained that preparations include dedicating the heritage market to walking and strolling.

Stalls and tents will be set up to display local products and handicrafts, alongside paintings by artists from Rachaya and beyond.

The festival also supports small business owners and women, contributing to boosting economic activity.

It will also feature the participation of the Children’s Cancer Center and the Hermon Center for Care and Rehabilitation, in support of humanitarian initiatives.

Grape harvesting and visits to the presses
For her part, the association’s president, Ola Abou Barakeh, affirmed that the making of grape molasses is part of Rachaya’s memory and identity.

Accordingly, the program includes walking trails at different levels, a grape-harvesting experience, and visits to the presses to learn about the stages of production.

Sheikh Moufid Mahmoud, head of the heritage market merchants’ committee, welcomed visitors, affirming the merchants’ readiness to participate and cooperate.

The organizers also invited Lebanese people to discover the Independence Citadel, the old churches and the heritage sites. Thus, the Grape Molasses Days Festival combines agricultural heritage, tourism and support for local products, in an atmosphere of joy and warmth.
