American star Miley Cyrus has made a strong comeback to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Her new album Bass Persuades debuted directly at No. 1 for the week ending October 3, 2026.
According to data from Luminate, the album earned about 61,000 equivalent album units in the United States. These results were recorded for the week ending September 24.
With this, Bass Persuades became Miley’s sixth album to reach No. 1. Her number of albums to enter the top ten has also risen to 16.
Miley Cyrus’ return to the top
Miley’s last album to top the Billboard 200 was Bangerz in 2013. This chart-topping album therefore marks a notable comeback after more than a decade.
Cyrus announced the Bass Persuades album on September 1. She then officially released it on the 18th of the same month.
The title track, released on September 3, entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 35.
With this, the new song became the 24th hit of Miley’s career to reach the top 40.
Strong numbers in the first week
Of the 61,000 units the album recorded, direct sales accounted for about 47,000 copies. As a result, it also topped the Top Album Sales chart.
Streaming services, meanwhile, generated the equivalent of 14,000 units. This figure equals about 14.22 million official on-demand streams.
In addition, the variety of album formats helped boost sales. The album was made available in 16 vinyl versions and nine CD versions.
Six digital versions and a cassette version were also released. Some of these editions include bonus tracks.
Fierce competition on the Billboard 200
Meanwhile, Ella Langley’s album Dandelion held on to the No. 2 spot, recording about 61,000 equivalent album units.
Riley Green also achieved his first entry into the top ten, with his album That’s Just Me landing at No. 3.
Meanwhile, PinkPantheress recorded her first album in the top ten, as her project Pylon entered the chart at No. 7 with about 35,000 units.
With this achievement, Miley Cyrus became the third artist in 2026 to return to the top of the Billboard 200 after a wait of more than ten years, following Bruno Mars and A$AP Rocky.
