Zahara Jolie, the daughter of stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has become the third of the couple’s children to officially drop the “Pitt” surname, after a California judge approved her request for the name change.
According to court records, the 21-year-old’s name has officially become “Zahara Marley Jolie,”
replacing “Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt,” following a court hearing held on September 28, at which no objections to the request were recorded.
Zahara Jolie filed for the name change
Zahara had filed a request to remove her father’s name from her surname last June, based on legal documents dated April 28.
She also published a legal notice about the name change in the “Los Angeles Daily Journal,” in accordance with the procedures required by the state of California.
Zahara had previously used the name “Zahara Marley Jolie” publicly during her graduation
ceremony from Spelman College in Atlanta, as well as when she joined the “Alpha Kappa Alpha” sorority in 2023.
Three children have received approval
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
Shiloh had filed a similar request in 2024 and later received official approval.
Maddox’s name also officially became “Maddox Chivan Jolie” this September after dropping “Pitt.”
As for Vivienne, she has filed a request to change her name to “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie,”
and the court is set to consider her request during a hearing on November 2.
With that, four of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children have taken legal steps to remove the “Pitt”
name from their surnames, while the process has so far been officially completed for Shiloh, Maddox and Zahara.
