Under the patronage of Minister of Culture Professor Ghassan Salameh, the Municipality of Shatoura and “Or Media” inaugurated the “The Spirit of Baalbek in the Heart of Shatoura” festival.
The event drew a massive crowd of over 4,000 people, including members of the public and political figures.
Among those in attendance were the Governor of Baalbek-Hermel, Mr. Bashir Khader, and the Public Prosecutor, Judge Ahmad Rami al-Hajj,
Also present were Members of Parliament Michel Daher, Hassan Murad, Salim Aoun, and Bilal Al-Hashimi; as well as the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Louis Lahoud;
Also present were the President of the Bekaa Industrialists’ Association, Nicolas Abu Faisal, and the mayors of Majdal Anjar, Badnayel, Al-Mrayjat, Ablah, and Maksa.
The event was hosted by media personality Saria Al-Jarrah, with entrepreneur “El Maestro” serving as the master of ceremonies.
This was followed by a Baalbek-style celebration performed by the Baalbek Dabke Sheikhs troupe, which continued until the early morning hours.
The festival continues through Sunday, with artist Walid Al-Halani performing tonight and poet Habib Abu Anton on Sunday.
The launch ceremony also featured an announcement by Shatoura Mayor Michel Matran that he had laid the cornerstone for “Shatoura Rotary Park,” which will be the first modern, free public park in the Bekaa Valley.
