Sagesse Beirut kicked off its campaign in the quarterfinal round (Final 8) of the West Asia Basketball Super League “Wasel” with a 103-97 win over Iran’s Gorgan.
The match was held at the Nehad Naufal Complex in Zouk Mikael as part of Group Two competitions.
Sagesse sealed the win by a 6-point margin, reaching 103 points in a game that saw a combined total of 200 points scored by both teams.
The victory gave the Lebanese team a strong start in the quarterfinal round and a morale boost ahead of its upcoming matches in the group.
The win carries special significance for Sagesse Beirut, coming at the start of its participation in this stage of the tournament and against an Iranian opponent that scored 97 points.
It also allowed the team’s fans to celebrate a successful opening on the Nehad Naufal Complex court.
Sagesse is looking to continue its positive results in the “Final 8,” having achieved its first goal by winning the opening match.
The upcoming matches will determine the team’s path in Group Two and its chances of advancing in the tournament.
