The Harajel Municipality organized the event in its main courtyard. The ceremony also included the signing of Khalil’s new book, No Time for Time.
Political, diplomatic, literary, cultural, social, media, and artistic figures attended the event.
The ceremony began with the Lebanese national anthem. Afterward, organizers read a congratulatory message from President General Joseph Aoun.
In his message, President Aoun praised May Khalil’s philosophical and cultural journey. He also wished her continued success in her literary career.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ali Al-Samad conveyed greetings from Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salameh.
Al-Samad explained that No Time for Time belongs to the genre of philosophical and existential reflections. In particular, the book explores major questions about time, life, death, love, knowledge, the soul, and eternity.
Moreover, Khalil presents these ideas through short and concise texts. Her writing combines clarity with a poetic style.
According to Al-Samad, Khalil offers a vision that goes beyond matter and the physical body. The book also includes Sufi and philosophical reflections.
In addition, her work draws inspiration from the literary legacy of Gibran Khalil Gibran and Mikha’il Na’ima.
Al-Samad emphasized that the book’s strength comes from its personal approach. Khalil revisits timeless philosophical questions through an intimate and distinctive voice.
At the end of the speeches, Harajel Mayor Khalil Khalil and Dr. Ali Al-Samad presented a commemorative plaque to May Khalil. They recognized her literary and cultural contributions.
For her part, Khalil thanked the Ministry of Culture and Harajel Municipality. She also expressed her pride and appreciation for the honor.
