The Lebanese Under-18 women’s basketball team has advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Championship (Division B).
The tournament is being hosted by the Thai capital, Bangkok, through next Sunday.
This came after a crucial 66–59 victory over Kazakhstan.
The team finished atop Group B at the end of the first round, securing its third consecutive win in three games.
By topping Group B, the Cedars secured direct qualification to the semifinals.
They will play their next match on Saturday, hoping to reach the final and compete for the championship title.
The match was closely contested between the two teams, given its importance in determining the group leader.
However, the Lebanese team prevailed and secured the victory. The sets ended as follows: (15–15), (38–31), (48–41), (66–59).
Lara Al-Naqib shone as the top scorer for the Lebanese team, scoring 28 points.
She played a major role in leading her team to victory for the Lebanese Under-18 women’s basketball team.
The Lebanese Under-18 women’s basketball team had opened its tournament campaign with a victory over the Cook Islands on Monday.
It then defeated Samoa on Tuesday, achieving a perfect record with three consecutive wins
and confirming their readiness to continue competing for the title.
