The Lebanese Under-18 women’s basketball team has advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Championship Division B, which is being hosted in Bangkok, Thailand, through next Sunday.
Lebanon secured its place in the semifinals after earning a crucial 66–59 victory over Kazakhstan. As a result, the team finished at the top of Group B with a perfect record of three consecutive wins.
By leading the group, the Cedars qualified directly for the semifinals. Therefore, they will return to action on Saturday, hoping to reach the final and compete for the championship title.
The match was closely contested because of its importance in determining the group winner. Nevertheless, the Lebanese team maintained its composure and eventually secured the victory.
The scores at the end of each quarter were 15–15, 38–31, 48–41, and 66–59.
Notably, Lara Al-Naqib delivered an outstanding performance and finished as Lebanon’s top scorer with 28 points. Moreover, she played a major role in leading her team to this important victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Lebanon opened its campaign with a win over the Cook Islands on Monday. Then, the team defeated Samoa on Tuesday.
Finally, the victory over Kazakhstan completed Lebanon’s perfect first-round record. Consequently, the Lebanese team confirmed its strong form and readiness to continue competing for the championship title.
