European stocks remained stable during trading on Tuesday.
They were supported by positive corporate news, despite pressure from a new wave of selling in global bond markets.
The European Stoxx 600 index rose 0.04%, reaching 651.35 points by 07:29 GMT.
In contrast, the British “Financial Times 100” index fell by 0.4%, the German “DAX” dropped 0.2%, while the French “CAC 40” rose by 0.4%.
Bond Yields Weigh on European Stocks
Global bond yields hit high levels.
Amid renewed fighting in the Middle East and rising oil prices, this has heightened concerns about rising inflation and continued monetary tightening.
The yield on 30-year German bonds reached its highest level in 15 years,
while its French counterpart hit its highest level since 2008.
The energy sector rose 1.4%, with Brent crude trading near $92 per barrel.
Reckitt Benckiser shares jumped 5.2%, and Air Liquide shares rose about 3.8%.
This helped limit losses in European markets.
